Two days later, Marine and Star were swimming through very long seaweed. Suddenly, Star bumped into Marine playfully. She then shot ahead of her, looking back at her with a twinkle in her eyes.

"Bet you can't catch me!"

Marine chased her through the water. When Star jumped out of the water, she followed. Playing with Star made Marine forget the chaos for a moment. She caught up to star and lightly tapped her back against Star's side. Marine stopped suddenly when she felt a presence.

Marine looked out of the water when she realized it wasn't in the water. A young human was sitting on a slab of wood that reached over the water. He was letting his feet dangle over the cool water. Marine sensed sadness from him, much like her own. His hair was blackish-brown and stuck out in tufts around his head. He wore a white pelt with red stripes. The human's eyes were dark brown. He wore blue leg pelts.

The boy hadn't noticed Marine until she swam up to him. He looked at Marine as if he hadn't expected her. They stared at eachother for a while. The boy put his hand out hesitantly. Marine looked at it warily. This boy was the same species as the ones who killed her mother. She realized that all humans were different. She decided to let him get a chance.

As the boy touched her head he said something in human. Marine guessed he was trying to let his feelings out. She wished she could understand him, but had never gone anywhere near humans. The boy suddenly started crying as if a sad memory had returned. Again, Marine felt the same sadness she had felt.

"Have you lost your family as well?" She clicked to him, even though she knew he couldn't understand her. Marine almost fell back into the water in shock when he nodded. The boy must've realized what he had just done when his eyes widened with surprise. He looked down at Marine.

Suddenly there was a splash beside Marine. She looked to see Star. "What are you doing with this human? Didn't they kill spirit?"

The boy looked at Star, startled again that he could understand the dolphin.

"This one's different." Marine defended him. "He can understand us!"

"It couldn't be!" Star's eyes widened twice their size.

"Couldn't be what?"

"We should speak in private." Star said urgently. Marine followed her a couple feet below the boy, where he wouldn't hear them.
